Exhibition views, Solo Show “Se serait avec vous retrouvée, ou perdue”, Marseille, Galerie Arnaud Deschin, July 2011

In her solo exhibition « Se serait avec vous retrouvée, ou perdue » (with you emerged in safety, or have perished), Dominique Hurth suggests a reading of images and their captions. From the archive of a Dutch designer and printer, the condition of the male sculptor, the golem and the representation of a woman caught within the frame of an image merge into the act of opening, manipulating and editing the material. The exhibition opens with a curtain, element from a stage and of home interior, to meet in a wax container that recalls the encounter between a man of electricity and a french actress recording the tragedy of Phaedra. The actress is found back in this masculine shape, locked in, both guilty of the harm of the other and victim of her pulsions ; manipulated by the industrial prodigy and later in the mania of a designer.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a small limited edition.
