operant chamber and teaching machine (2015) closes a cycle of work that investigated social conditioning, behaviorism, scientific apparatus and early technology of science through the lens of its documentation. From Pavlov’s Sketch for experiment (2008)to Herbert Bayer’s conditioning of the exhibition space (2010) and her most recent work on the visual cliff (2014), Hurth recreates here the setting of Skinner’s well-known baby box on the basis of archival research, literature and you-tube films.
